Shorten piercing bar
A piercing bar made of Bioflex (or Bioplast) can be shortened relatively easily as it is a flexible plastic material.
Tools required
-
PTFE and Bioflex Snapper
You can easily shorten the rod with the snapper.
-
PTFE and Bioflex taps
The thread cutter can be used to provide the shortened rod with a thread again.
Procedure
-
Marking
Determine the desired length and mark the spot with a fine-tip pen.
-
Shorten
Shorten the rod at the marked point with the clipper.
-
Thread cutting
Guide the tap to the end of the rod. Turn the tap several times to cut a thread into the rod.
-
Testing
Remove the tap and screw the ball onto the rod. Check whether the ball can be screwed on easily and whether it holds well. If the thread is not long enough, use the tap again so that you can widen the thread.
Notes
- Bioflex is soft, so the rod can be damaged by improper cutting.
- If the thread no longer engages, you can rework it with the thread cutter or carefully cut the rod a little longer and try again.
If you prefer a rod that already has a thread, you can also buy prefabricated piercing rods in various lengths.
